China: “Magic Glaze“ 5D Theater at Tonguan Kiln Cultural & Tourism Center Now Open

The Tonguan Kiln International Cultural and Tourism Center in the Chinese city of Changsha (Hunan province), which is part of the portfolio of Macrolink Group, has recently expanded its existing visitor offer by the opening of a new 5D theater, dubbed “Magic Glaze”. The attraction invites guests to a 15-minute immersive movie experience, telling the story of “Xiaoxiao” and “Tongton”, who chase after the “Magic Glaze” to break the evil spell over their town and its inhabitants.

For an immersive experience, the theater features a 3D dome projection screen and 4-DOF motion seats with integrated special effects. Up to 800 visitors can experience the attraction at the same time. Technology partner for the 5D theater was Austria’s Kraftwerk Living Technologies: the company supplied components such as the 3D screen, the projection and audio system (featuring six 4K Barco laser projectors and QSC amplifiers), the AV equipment as well as show lighting and special effects.

“What is special about this 5D theater is the seamless integration of the cultural center’s main theme, porcelain craftsmanship, into the attraction. When entering the theater, you walk into the interior of a flaming oven – realized with scenic lighting, various projections and special effects. With this ‘flaming’ atmosphere, the stage is set for a great story and entertaining experience,” explains Manfred Meier, CEO of Kraftwerk LT.

The Austrian company had already been involved in the installation of the “Beautiful Hunan” flying theater attraction at Tonguan Kiln Cultural and Tourism Center, which was opened in October last year (cf. EAP News f. Dec 17th, 2018). (eap)
