“Cétautomatix”: New Family Spinning Coaster Launches at Parc Astérix
(eap) Today marks the official opening of the new spinning coaster “Cétautomatix” at Parc Astérix, which has found a home in the French amusement park’s Gaulish village. The new attraction has replaced the former old-timer ride. The park is promoting the new Gerstlauer roller coaster as “Europe’s first family-friendly spinning roller coaster”. The eight gondolas not only rotate on the 420-metre-long and up to 14-metre-high track, but are also launched, which is intended to ensure a new experience every time you ride. Steep slopes, tight bends and unpredictable accelerations make every ride a unique experience, according to the park. The cars reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Riders are arranged two across in two rows for a total of four riders in each gondola. Children can ride from a height of one metre, which underlines the family-friendliness of the roller coaster.
The new attraction is a tribute to “Fulliautomatix” (French: Cétautomatix), the blacksmith in the Gaulish village, who, according to the storyline, is now building new chariots in his workshop and letting visitors test drive them on a test track. ■
