“Die Sendung mit der Maus” at Cologne’s Odysseum

Odysseum and WDR Cologne (a German public-broadcasting institution) recently confirmed their cooperation starting this upcoming summer at Cologne’s science center Odysseum: the “Museum mit der Maus“, (Eng.: museum with the mouse) will be the new attraction at Odysseum. Visitors will be able to experience exciting adventures with the famous characters of the German children’s television series “Die Sendung mit der Maus”, (Eng.: the Program with the Mouse) on an area of 1,250 square meters. The investment volume for the reconstruction of the science center and the construction of the mouse museum is around two million Euros. “We are more than happy about the expansion of the Odysseum through the mouse museum,” Andreas Waschk, CEO of Odysseum, said. “It will be a lovely new attraction for our Odysseum and for the whole region,” Artur Grzesiek, director of the Sparkassenstiftung CSC-Cologne Science Center who is the owner of the Odysseum, said. The WDR sees this cooperation as an “extension” of their educational responsibilities: “In Germany television viewers reserve their Sundays for this TV series. But museum visitors will have the chance to experience the mouse all week long as of this summer,” Siegmund Grewenig (divisional director of WDR) says. He continues, “With great enthusiasm the team of the Odysseum conveys knowledge through playing. Those who like watching “Die Sendung mit der Maus” will have a lot of fun at the Odysseum.” (eap)
