“Neo Cappadocia”: New Indoor Park Planned in the Heart of Turkey

The new indoor theme park is expected to boost tourism in the Cappadocia region of Turkey and attract up to half a million visitors annually.

(eap) In Avanos, in Turkey’s Cappadocia region, DOF Robotics is planning “Neo Cappadocia”, an indoor theme park designed to operate year-round. The Turkish attractions manufacturer will deliver a range of media-based experiences and operate the park itself under its Neo Planet brand. Dining and luxury accommodation are set to complement the leisure destination’s offering. According to the company, around 20 million US dollars is being invested in the project, which is scheduled to open in the second half of 2027. The project team is targeting more than 500,000 visitors annually.

Katapult is tasked with combining motion and simulation with storytelling to create a cohesive guest experience, while also designing the destination’s hotel suites and hospitality spaces. Last week, the project partners presented their plans at the first “TEA Explores Istanbul” event of the Themed Entertainment Association.

Mustafa Mertcan, Chairman of the Board at DOF Robotics, commented: “The process of working with Katapult has been fantastic. Their team has done a tremendous job bringing the vision of Neo Cappadocia to life, and we truly appreciate the close synergy and creative support they bring to the table.”

Phil Higgins, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Katapult, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “Great destinations don’t stop at the exit of a ride – they seamlessly weave themed attractions, authentic storytelling, and hospitality into unforgettable guest journeys. Working alongside DOF Robotics on Neo Cappadocia allows us to do what we do best: design world-class physical environments that elevate cutting-edge attractions and create destinations where guests want to stay, explore, and return.”

Three experiences will draw on Cappadocia’s striking natural landscape and history. In the “NEO Flight” flight simulator, guests will soar virtually over the region’s tuff rock formations, known as “fairy chimneys”. Scent and heat effects will enhance the flight experience. After walking through an explorer’s workshop, visitors will board a “Balloon Ride” to see valleys, dovecotes and rock-carved churches unfold beneath them. In a theatre, thousand-year-old legends will come to life on a grand scale.

Further insights into the project and construction progress are expected to be released over the coming months. ■
