(eap) The Explorado Group and Neon Global, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, are bringing the exhibition “Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs” to Germany for the first time. From July 13, 2024, the exhibition can be experienced for a limited time at the ODYSSEUM in Cologne. The centrepiece of the collection is the sarcophagus of “Ramses II”, one of the most remarkable royal coffins ever discovered in ancient Egypt. After the exhibition has already been shown in Paris and Sydney, Cologne will be the third city worldwide to exhibit this artefact together with 180 other treasures. All the objects come from museums and historical sites in Egypt and are on loan from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities. The exhibition will also feature a Virtual Reality experience that will take visitors on a tour through two of Ramses’ most impressive monuments.

“Mystery surrounds Egypt’s origins, religions and monumental architecture – much of which was built during the reign of Ramses II, 1279 to 1213 BC. This ability to transcend age and time has secured the Egyptians an eternal place in history, and I invite visitors to discover for themselves why Ramses II is often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated and powerful pharaoh of all times,” says Dr. Mostafa Waziry, archaeologist and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt.

“We are proud and honored to be able to present this extraordinary exhibition at the Odysseum in Cologne. It is a great pleasure to present these extremely rare objects in a show where visitors can experience their astonishing beauty and long-lasting history up close. Ancient Egypt holds an immense fascination for people of all ages and I am sure that Ramses & The Gold of the Pharaohs in Cologne will inspire a new generation of visitors to discover the mysteries and secrets of the pharaohs,” explains Andreas Waschk, CEO of Explorado Group.

“Our team has created a fascinating experience that pays tribute to the most important pharaoh in Egyptian history. The response from visitors has exceeded our expectations. The magnificent sarcophagus of Ramses II will be the main attraction of the Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition. We are thrilled to bring the exhibition to Cologne and are sure that the Germans will be equally excited,” adds Ron Tan, Executive Chairman and CEO of NEON. ■
