(eap) The holiday resort Tropical Islands in Krausnick (Brandenburg, Germany), operated by the Spanish Parques Reunidos group, has expanded its offering with two new mascots. The two characters were developed by Euro Mascots / Fun Experts GmbH.

The new characters consist of two monkey costumes representing a boy and a girl monkey. The figures are named “Tiki” and “Isla”. According to the operator, the names were deliberately chosen as they convey a tropical lifestyle while also reflecting the initials of Tropical Islands.

In particular, younger visitors are expected to come into regular contact with the mascots in the future. It is planned that Tiki and Isla will appear several times a day in the area of the “Tropino Kids Club”, where they will be available for spontaneous encounters and interactions. In addition, initial merchandise featuring the monkey duo is already available in the resort’s shops; further products are said to be in planning.

With the introduction of the mascots, Tropical Islands is relying on a proven component of modern leisure and experience worlds. Mascots no longer serve merely as a decorative element but are increasingly taking on the role of brand ambassadors, audience magnets, and emotional bridge between visitors and the world of experiences. They help to communicate brand values in a playful way, create recognition, and establish lasting memories, particularly for families.

The thematic special in the current January/February issue 2026 of EAP highlights the strategic importance mascots can have for leisure facilities and how successful concepts can be developed. From p. 54 onwards, various approaches and practical examples are presented. ■
