† Obituary: Michael Severn Lamb (1948-2012)

Michael Severn Lamb, former Chairman and Chief Executive of the Severn Lamb company, died on February 7, 2012, aged 63. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1948 as the son of Severn Lamb founder Peter Severn Lamb. He began his career as an interior designer but joined the family business in 1975 as Chairman and Chief Executive following the untimely death of his father. Under his leadership the company – well-known within the leisure industry for its transport systems – grew and prospered significantly. In 1995 Michael Lamb won the title of “Businessman of the Year” and the “Queen’s Award for Export”. Due to on-going health issues Michael Severn Lamb retired as Chairman of Severn Lamb in 2004, when his oldest son Patrick took over at the helm of the company. Patrick Severn Lamb was appointed Managing Director of the company in 2008. (eap)
