60 Years of Taunus Wunderland

60 Years of Taunus Wunderland

(eap) Taunus Wunderland, located near Schlangenbad not far from Wiesbaden, Germany, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this season. The anniversary was officially marked with a gala for invited guests, combining entertainment, culinary offerings, emotions and visions for the future. At the same time, the event represented the beginning of a new event era at the park: The venue was a newly designed event tent in the “Aryas Drachenschlucht” themed area, which is to be used for various formats in future – from corporate events and dinner shows to entertainment productions. A new dinner show series featuring international artists, live music and show elements is planned to launch towards the end of the year.

The leisure park in the south-west of the Taunus mountain range region opened in 1966 as a fairy-tale park and, following its takeover by the Barth showman family, was gradually developed into a modern theme park. In 1999, the “Wilde Maus” family roller coaster became the first major ride to move into the park. Numerous further attractions and infrastructure projects were implemented in the years that followed. Taunus Wunderland took an important step in its brand development in 2016: With a comprehensive brand relaunch, the park positioned itself more strongly as a family park with themed adventure worlds and its own characters.

Several new themed areas were created in the following years. Most recently, “Aryas Drachenschlucht” opened in 2023 – an imaginative adventure world centred around dragons, goblins, Gobbis and adventures. After the area was expanded in 2024 with the “Gobbi Express” family roller coaster, the “Energieklunker & Koboldplunder” family labyrinth and “Baumberts Wasserspielplatz” water playground followed last year. For its 60th anniversary, the park is continuing the development of the themed area and is expanding it, among other things, with the “Wachtürme” climbing structure, which rises into the air amid the track layout of Gobbi Express. The climbing structure was supplied by Walltopia. ■
