Aérophile Delivers First Tethered Ballon to Taiwan
(eap) In time for the Chinese New Year celebrations (17 February to 3 March 2026), a new visitor attraction commenced soft operations at the foot of Jiujiu Peak in Taiwan’s Nantou County (Republic of China): a tethered balloon by the French company Aérophile. The project was initiated by the Nantou County Government under the name “Jiujiufeng Helium Balloon Park.” The Taiwanese hot-air balloon company Skyrainbow Airlines CO., LTD was responsible for the purchase, import and assembly of the helium balloon.
Each “balloon ride” – the balloon is tethered to the ground by cables – can carry up to 30 guests to a height of up to 160 meters to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the Jiujiufeng Nature Reserve. Subject to favourable weather conditions, the balloon may even rise to an altitude of up to 300 meters. Each ride lasts about ten minutes. The grand opening ceremony of the attraction is scheduled for 9 March. Since its founding in 1993, Aérophile has installed 120 tethered balloons in 40 countries worldwide. ■
