ADRENA: New Red Sea Tourism Destination to Make Waves

ADRENA is located a short drive away from the recently opened Shura Island.

(eap) As part of the large-scale tourism development project “The Red Sea” in Saudi Arabia, which welcomed its first guests in 2023, the new adventure sports and entertainment destination ADRENA is set to officially open to visitors this Sunday (1 March). Real estate developer Red Sea Global (RSG) – formerly The Red Sea Development Company – realized the entertainment district on the country’s west coast, just a short drive from the resort island of Shura Island (aka: Shurayrah Island). The facility brings together more than 20 leisure, sports and entertainment offerings. Guests can surf, wakeboard, dive and cliff-jump, while additional facilities cater for skateboarding, BMX as well as football and volleyball. Those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere – or wishing to unwind after sporting activities – can head to the “Beach Club”, featuring live music, an infinity pool and South American cuisine.

The new destination boasts more than 20 diverse land and water experiences. © Endless Surf // Tanner Wilson A central element of the development is the 215-meter-long saltwater surf lagoon. Its artificially generated waves reach heights of up to 2.1 meters and can be individually adjusted according to the surfers’ skill levels. This is made possible by the Endless Surf wave technology supplied by WhiteWater West. “In a destination defined by regenerative luxury, Endless Surf brings something truly special: real saltwater waves with fully customizable profiles, right here at The Red Sea,” says Paul Chutter, President of Endless Surf. “From beginners to seasoned surfers, our ES36 creates an experience you can only expect in premier surf destinations – and now Saudi Arabia.”

The wave pool is fed directly with salt water from the Red Sea, adding a further layer of authenticity to the surfing experience. A closed-loop, sustainably designed system draws in seawater, filters it and channels it into the Endless Surf lagoon. After use, the water is cleaned and filtered again and returned to the sea. In addition to the surf lagoon, WhiteWater supplied further attractions, including a FlowSurf stationary wave, an “AquaPlay” water play structure and “Slip ‘n’ Fly” slides. Further Endless Surf projects by the manufacturer are planned in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Florida (USA), Cabo (Mexico), and the Saudi capital Riyadh.

“Our unique adventure and entertainment district isn’t just about offering thrilling experiences, it’s about embodying the freedom of a coastal lifestyle – the energy, the community, the connection with nature. We’ve built ADRENA with sustainability at its core, demonstrating our commitment to regenerative tourism and ensuring an unforgettable experience for every guest, day and night. We look forward to welcoming visitors in the coming weeks,” said John Pagano, Group CEO of RSG. ■
