Adventure Zoo Hannover / Germany: There’s Much Going on in Yukon Bay!

„Yukon Bay“, the seventh themed area at Hanover’s Adventure Zoo, was opened in 2010 and has invited visitors to a Canada-inspired landscape since then (cf. EAP 4/2010). In “McKenzies Robbenshow” (McKenzie’s seal show) visitors get to know everything interesting about Yukon Bay’s inhabitants like the Californian sea lions, sea bears and grey seals. Also the grey sea eagle Viktoria, which came to the Adventure Zoo in February of this year, impresses the audiences during the show.

From the end of August to the beginning of September the traditional “gold rush days” were celebrated at the zoo with country music, bull riding, lassoing etc. On this occasion, Mike Nixon, Canada’s Minister of Tourism & Culture at Yukon government, handed over two hand-carved totem poles to the zoo as an official gift.
