Following extensive renovation and expansion measures, the Swarovski Kristallwelten (Swarovski Crystal Worlds), located in the Austrian city of Wattens, reopened in May this year (cf. EAP News from May 21, 2015). A number of new attractions and art works were added to the adventure destination’s attraction portfolio, including a crystal cloud created by the American-French artist duo CAO PERROT (pictured). This month, Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot received the “Best of Year” award in the “installation” category for their monumental installation, which consists of around 800,000 hand-mounted Swarovski crystals. As the centerpiece of the new landscape garden, the 1,400 square meter art work floats above the black Mirror Pool. According to Carla Rumler, D. Swarovski Tourism Services GmbH’s Cultural Director, the crystal cloud “has since May fascinated visitors from all over the world”.

For ten years already, the US-American Interior Design magazine has honored the best architecture and design projects and products in different categories. Almost 60,000 industry experts voted this year’s winners. The award ceremony took place in New York. (eap)
