Australia: New Leisure Destination Planned for Australia’s Sunshine Coast

Sanad Capital, an Australian investment and development company related to Dubai-based Najibi Group, recently presented first plans for a larger project on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, which is said to become an “active lifestyle” destination. According to the company, the offer for visitors is inspired by popular Asian theme and waterparks and will feature a world’s first “Wave Reservoir”, a waterpark and several water sports facilities. Furthermore, the project includes a sports centre, a special area for events, a hotel, a function centre, restaurants and retail outlets. In total, the investment volume amounts to 400 million AUD (approx. 280 million EUR).

“The development is set to become an unparalleled, unprecedented tourist hub, influenced by major action sports projects, water parks and entertainment hubs across Asia and will serve up a memorable, family-friendly experience to locals as well as to tourists,” said Sanad Capital’s Chief Executive Bradley P. Sutherland. Talal Y. Najibi, Executive Chairman of Najibi, added: “This project marks a major milestone in Najibi’s strategy to diversify its interests and investments. We feel this is the right time to invest in Australia. The Sunshine Coast is rife with opportunities and we are confident that this project will be extremely successful.” Further details on the project have not been revealed until to date, but construction works are planned to begin next year.
