Australia: New Roller Coasters Enjoy Great Popularity at Gumbuya World

Two new roller coasters have been thrilling visitors to Australia’s Gumbuya World water, wildlife and theme park since December 23, 2022. The park, located in Tynong North, Victoria, opened its new attractions at the start of the Australian summer season. Among them is the roller coaster “Project Zero”, which is the Skyloop/ XT 150 model from Maurer Rides, which previously operated at Dreamworld theme park under the name “BuzzSaw”. After a new paint job and a complete overhaul of the vehicles and track, the coaster was installed at Gumbuya World. Here, adrenaline seekers can now look forward to up to 5G acting on them at a speed of up to 105 km/h on a track length of 150 meters and a maximum height of 46.2 meters, as well as to two inversions that are passed through in the course of the track.

Hughes Those who are not looking for quite so many thrills, but still want to enjoy a great coaster ride, might flock to Vekoma’s Suspended Family Coaster, which opened at the park in December under the name “TNT”. On a track length of 453 meters, passengers pass through two tunnels and a building at up to 67 km/h.

“These new coasters are the first of Victoria’s kind, and I have no doubt that Victorians are going to absoloutely love it,” says Gumbuya World CEO Ron Weinzierl. This expectation should prove true. Shortly after the start of the summer season, the park has already drawn a very positive balance. The new roller coasters are very popular and see many repeat riders.

The theme park opened in 1978 under the name “Gumbuya Park“, under which it attracted guests until 2017. Six years ago, it was reopened as “Gumbuya World“ after an all-round renovation worth 50 million Australian dollars (around 32.5 million euros). (eap)
