Each year, the Vienna Prater amusement park, located in the center of Austria’s capital, welcomes around four million guests. In total, the Prater features 120 attractions and rides which are operated by 80 different showmen companies. There is no entrance fee to the park. Instead, visitors have to pay for each ride separately. Additionally, it is possible to use the “Pratercard” as a means of cashless payment. Visitors can charge the card with the desired amount of money and benefit from a discount of ten percent at 60 different ride attractions. On the occasion of Vienna Prater’s 250th anniversary next year, the Pratercard is planned to be extended to a day ticket. The card can then be acquired for a certain, for the time being undefined, price and be unlimitedly used until 6 pm. “The new time card is supposed to bring unlimited riding fun,” Stefan Sittler-Koidl, the Prater Association’s President, explains. Entry to the park will still be free of charge after the introduction of the day ticket. The Prater Association is currently negotiating with the showmen the number of participating rides. (eap)
