(eap) With the official opening of the new themed world “Idefix’ Adventure Land” yesterday, the family theme park BELANTIS near Leipzig, Germany, took the first visible step in its comprehensive, long-term transformation into Asterix Park Germany. The project marks the beginning of a strategic repositioning of the site under the leadership of Compagnie des Alpes (CDA).

The new themed world is aimed particularly at families with small children and expands the park’s offer with four new rides – including three rides by Zamperla and a mini water ride by Reverchon – as well as an adventure playground by Spielart, which is specifically geared towards younger visitors. The experience is complemented by a Meet & Greet with Asterix and Obelix and an F&B outlet with a lakeside terrace inviting guests to linger. Around five million euros have been invested in the new themed area in total.
“Idefix’ Adventure Land marks the start of a new chapter for Belantis,” explains Filip de Witte, Managing Director of Belantis. “Today’s opening represents not only a new themed world, but also the start of a long-term development programme through which we will continue to transform the park step by step over the coming years.”
“It’s touching to see how the world of Asterix and Idefix is now coming to life here for families and children... My father could never have imagined in his wildest dreams that Asterix would one day come to Germany,” said Anne Goscinny, daughter of comic writer René Goscinny († 1977), who created Asterix together with illustrator and co-author Albert Uderzo († 2020).
In cooperation with the publishing house Les Éditions Albert René, the world of Asterix and Obelix is to become an increasing part of Belantis in the coming years. Further investments in themed worlds, attractions, infrastructure and guest experience are already planned. Among other things, the next major expansion is set to follow in 2027 with the addition of a new family roller coaster. The aim is to further develop Belantis into Asterix Park Germany by 2030/31. ■
