Chessington Reveals Minecraft World Hotel and Name of New Roller Coaster

(eap) Merlin Entertainments and video game developer Mojang Studios have revealed further details about the new “Minecraft World”, which is currently under development at the UK Chessington World of Adventures Resort. As has now been announced, a dedicated “Minecraft World Hotel” is set to open alongside the new themed area in 2027. The hotel will feature almost 70 themed rooms as well as a restaurant and bar.
A total of 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms are planned across four levels. The hotel’s design will reflect the distinctive world of the video game, allowing fans and other guests to immerse themselves in the Minecraft universe beyond their visit to the theme park.

“We promised something truly special when we announced Minecraft World earlier this year, and with Minecraft World Hotel we are offering even more. Not only will fans be able to experience the game imagined for real life, but they’ll be also able to sleep inside it, ensuring fans respawn exactly where they want to be! Seeing the Minecraft World Hotel take shape alongside the attractions we are building at Chessington World of Adventures theme park is a Minecraft fan’s biggest dream. Every room, corridor and detail has been crafted with immense love for this game, the stories made within it and its community,” explains Daisy Mercedes, Creative Producer at Merlin Entertainments.
Meanwhile, construction work on the new Minecraft World is progressing within the theme park. The name of its future main attraction has now also been revealed: the world’s first Minecraft-themed roller coaster will be called “Escape the Nether”. The attraction is planned as an indoor coaster featuring an outdoor sequence. The ride will initially take visitors on a fast-paced adventure through dark mines before sending them through a so-called Nether portal and out of the building into the “Overworld” area of the new themed land. Around GBP 50 million (approx. EUR 58 million) is being invested in the overall project. ■
