Denmark: LEGOLAND® Billund to Open New LEGO® Castle Hotel in 2019

Located close to the LEGOLAND® park’s main entrance, Billund will see the opening of a new LEGO® Castle Hotel in the spring of 2019, offering 142 themed rooms in three different designs (wizards, knights & princesses). Besides giant Lego figures welcoming guests in the entrance hall, more than 900 colorful Lego models will decorate the new hotel. “Our first job is to create experiences that completely absorb the kids into the fantastic universes that arise with the Lego brick. With the new hotel, we are going to surpass everything we previously have created at Legoland. When the children leave from here, they will have not doubt that they have been staying in a genuine castle filled to the brim with an atmosphere of adventure and LEGO magic,” said Legoland’s Managing Director Christian Woller.

“It’s going to look like a castle as we know it from fairy tales. Built of materials that look like the boulders of the time, with impressive Lego-themed tower rooms, and surrounded by a large, green area with, among other things, a large playground for hotel guests. Where [the existing] Hotel LEGOLAND both houses a conference centre and Lego-themed accommodation at children’s level, the castle hotel is exclusively designed with our core target audience, the families with children, in mind […],” explained Woller. A total investment volume of more than 26 million EUR (200 Million DKK) is scheduled for the new hotel, the highest investment of the Danish Legoland park until to date.

Thanks to the recent opening of the new LEGO® House – Home of the Brick experience world in Billund (cf. EAP, 6/17) visitor numbers and overnight stays would increase in the near future, according to Woller. (eap)
