(eap) The Attractiepark Drouwenerzand, located in the Dutch province of Drenthe, is planning to open an interactive dark ride of the “GameChanger” type in the 2027 season. A corresponding agreement with the manufacturer Lagotronics Projects has now been signed. This will mark the first installation of this type of attraction in a Dutch theme park. The world’s premiere opened in 2018 at Germany’s Bayern-Park, where it has since entertained family audiences under the name “Stadlgaudi 4D” (cf. EAP 5/2018).

Attractiepark Drouwenerzand, with its diverse portfolio of family rides, adventure playgrounds and entertainment formats, caters to visitors of a wide age group. With the addition of the GameChanger, an interactive gameplay attraction will further expand the park’s offering: the concept is based on a dark ride on a compact ground space in which guests are seated in gondolas mounted on a rotating platform, moving through several media-based scenes. Using interactive devices, they can aim at targets and collect points either individually or as part of a team in order to achieve a high score. The competitive gameplay ensures a high repeat value, while the indoor nature of the themed ride makes it independent of weather conditions.
“This attraction allows us to offer our visitors something completely new. Interactivity and experience are playing an increasingly important role, and with this investment we are fully committing to that direction,” comments park director Kevin Moespot.
Mark Beumers, CEO of Lagotronics Projects, adds: “We have been in close contact with Drouwenerzand for several years and during that period we have been looking for the right way to cooperate with each other. It is great that we are now taking this step, especially since it is a first for the Dutch market. We are very much looking forward to realizing this attraction together. Moreover, the enthusiasm within the Drouwenerzand team is infectious and gives us great confidence in a wonderful end result.”
In the coming weeks, the park and the manufacturer will develop the thematic design for the new attraction, which is intended to reflect the identity of Drouwenerzand. Further details will be announced at a later stage. ■
