EXPO 2027 Belgrade: 200 Days to Go Until Opening

The German Pavilion at the specialized expo in Serbia will focus on German innovations in the fields of sports and music.

(eap) In 200 days, the time will have come: EXPO 2027 will open in Belgrade on 15 May 2027. Running until 15 August, the specialised expo is themed “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”. According to the organisers, it is expected to attract more than 140 international participants and over four million visitors to the Serbian capital. Work on a total of seven exhibition halls is currently progressing at the expo site in the municipality of Surčin. The pavilion spaces are scheduled to be allocated in early December.

“Our priority is to be ready to welcome the world on 15 May and to make EXPO 2027 Belgrade a catalyst for lasting international partnerships and economic growth, benefiting Serbia, the wider region and our international partners,” said Danilo Jerinić, Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade.

Supplied by French company Aérophile, the attraction accommodates up to 30 passengers and rises to a height of up to 150 metres. From there, guests can enjoy views of the surrounding area.

The German Pavilion at the expo is themed “Germany! Out of the Box”, derived from the English phrase “Think out of the box”. It aims to show how play, imagination and new perspectives can give rise to innovation. Inside the pavilion, German innovations related to the expo’s key themes of sport and music will be presented and made accessible through playful experiences.

Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy commissioned Messe Düsseldorf to organize and operate the German Pavilion. Cologne-based agency facts and fiction, which has more than 25 years of expo experience, is responsible for the concept and design of both the German and the Austrian pavilions. The German Pavilion’s restaurant, shop and VIP lounge will be operated by 78degrees, the company behind which is Sebastian von Landsberg-Velen. He is one of the sons of the family that owns and operates the Schloss Dankern holiday resort in Germany. ■
