Europa-Park Honors Emil Steinberger with His Own Experience Area

(eap) Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, is honoring one of Switzerland’s most significant and beloved artists in a very special way: Starting today, in the amusement park’s Swiss-themed area, visitors can experience the life’s work of cabaret artist, actor, and director Emil Steinberger (photo) in a very personal way through the “Emil-Hüüsli” and the exhibition “Emil’s Bühnenwelt”, as well as his legendary sketches in the “Märchenwaldkino” (Grimm library).

The centerpiece of this immersive experience is the Emil-Hüüsli, an authentic Swiss house that takes visitors on a journey through the artist’s life. Photos, documents, handwritten texts, records, personal mementos, and his signature catchphrases tell the story of his childhood, his family, and his extraordinary career. Emil Steinberger himself describes the Hüüsli as a very personal little museum of his life.

Right next to the Emil-Hüüsli, the curtain rises on Emil’s stage world. In front of a large red stage curtain, a faithfully recreated set has been built to evoke the cabaret artist’s performances. Emil’s wife, Niccel Steinberger, also played a key role in the design. Together, they gathered old props and selected mementos. Emil himself hopes that visitors will leave the rooms with a smile, remember his acts, and perhaps even quote the lines that many have known by heart for decades.

The tribute extends beyond the Swiss-themed area: At Europa-Park’s Märchenwaldkino, the daily program features “Twelve Minutes of Laughter with Emil”. Several times a day, selected classics by the Swiss cabaret artist are shown there – in the Swiss dialect and in Standard German. ■
