France: Aqualand Waterparks Ready to Expand

Five of France’s waterparks operated by Aspro Group will expand their offer of water attractions this summer. Aqualand Fréjus, located on the French Riviera, will open a brand-new “King Cobra” waterslide, the first of its kind in France. The installation of a further King Cobra slide in just a short period of time underlines the positive acceptance of the relatively new waterslide within the waterpark industry. Aqualand Cap d’Agde will see the installation of a tropical themed water play structure. Aqualand St. Cyprien will add a new “Uphill Navigatour” water coaster ride as well as a “Tunnel Body Slide”. Another tropical themed water play structure goes to Aqualand St. Cyr sur Mer. A fifth waterpark of the chain, Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon, will open two new attractions: a “Mini Pirate Slide” as well as a themed multi-level water play structure. This waterpark just opened a new waterslide last year (cf. EAP 4/2011). All of the new waterslides and play structures are supplied by Polin. The Aspro Group operates a total of eight waterparks in France. The opening of new attractions within five of the group’s French parks during the summer holiday period emphasizes their strategy to systematically increase the touristic value of these parks. (eap)
