(eap) The Parc Bagatelle, located in Merlimont in northern France (Hauts-de-France region), has recently unveiled details of its new attraction for the 2026 season. As park director Sacha Marguerite announced, the upcoming season – set to begin on April 11 – will see the introduction of a thrill ride named “North Storm”, a “Typhoon 360” model supplied by Italian manufacturer Technical Park. The 33-metre-high attraction is currently under construction and is scheduled to whirl guests through the air from spring onwards.

Approved for riders from a height of 1.40 metres, the attraction will reach speeds of up to 40 km/h and is expected to offer breathtaking views across the park landscape. While the gondola of the Frisbee-style ride, featuring outward-facing seats, initially swings back and forth slowly before gaining speed, is also rotating around its own axis and finally flips over. Acceleration forces of up to 4G will be achieved. The theming of the thrill ride is based on an extreme storm scenario, which is also set to be reflected in the theme design, including lighting and sound effects. With this new attraction, the park is specifically targeting teenagers and young adults, a key audience for thrill rides, further diversifying its offer for families. Another installation of this type of ride in France can be found at Papéa Parc near Le Mans (Pays de la Loire region).

The new attraction at Parc Bagatelle, which is part of the Looping Group, forms part of a multi-million-euro investment plan scheduled to be implemented by 2030, aimed at modernising the park and optimising the overall visitor experience. ■
