Fuji-Q Highland Announces New Splash Coaster for 2027

(eap) Japanese amusement park Fuji-Q Highland, located at the northern foot of Mount Fuji, is set to open a new major attraction in summer 2027. The Fuji Kyuko Co. group announced the plans today on the occasion of its 100^th anniversary. The new attraction will be a splash coaster travelling forwards and backwards along the same track layout.

The vehicle, accommodating up to 20 passengers, will climb two vertical, 90-degree track sections. Three acceleration phases using linear motors will gradually propel it close to the top of the 44-metre-high tower. In the finale, the vehicle will plunge into a pool filled with natural water from Mount Fuji, creating a large splash. Around JPY 4 billion – equivalent to approximately EUR 22 million – is to be invested in the new attraction, which most probably will be a PowerSplash coaster by German manufacturer Mack Rides.

The new ride will be built next to the 4th-Dimension coaster “Eejanaika”, which opened in 2006, on the former site of the “Cool Jappaan” water attraction. For Fuji-Q Highland, the splash coaster will be the first new major attraction in four years. Most recently, the park opened the “Zokkon” motorbike coaster by Intamin in 2023. ■
