Germany: Church at Europa-Park – Pilgrimage Walk from Ettenheim to Rust

(v.l.n.r.): Jürgen und Mauritia Mack, Erzbischof em. Robert Zollitsch, Schirmherrin Annette Schavan, Hans-Georg Dietrich (Schuldekan für die Region Lahr und Offenburg), Marianne und Roland Mack

This past weekend around 250 guests took part in the “Shell in Europe” event at Europa-Park, including a “pilgrimage walk of mercy” from Ettenheim to Rust, a route distance of around eight kilometers. Germany’s Europa-Park has organized the church event in cooperation with the Badische St. Jakobusgesellschaft already for the twelfth year in succession. Around hundred pilgrims participated in the walk together with Strasbourg’s Suffragan Bishop Christian Kratz.

“The eight kilometer long pilgrimage walk, which takes place for the twelfth time, has become a tradition and a fixed component of Europa-Park’s ecclesiastical offer,” said Jürgen Mack, Owner of Europa-Park. Following an Eucharistic Mass on Saturday night, Annette Schavan, patroness of the event and ambassador at the Holy See in Rome, gave a speech on mercy to an audience of around 150 guests. (eap)
