Germany: Heide Park Soltau Celebrates 20 Years of Colossos

On April 13th, 2001 Merlin-Entertainments-operated Heide Park Soltau celebrated the opening of its “Colossos“ wooden coatser, which is Europe‘s the largest and fastes wooden coaster until today. Over the years Colossos became the park’s absolute signature ride. Due to maintanance works on the coaster’s track system, Colossos had to close to visitors as of July 27th, 2016. After almost three years of closure, the roller coaster opened again after receiving a complete track overhaul and retheming under the name “Colossos – Kampf der Giganten“ (engl.: Colossos - Fight of the Giants) in 2019 (vgl. EAP 4/2019). Eversince, visitors have been able to enjoy the “fight“ between fire and wood during the two minute-long coaster ride. For the 20th anniversary of Colossos, Heide Park initiated a raffle where 400 guests are able to win a Colossos all-round experience after park hours. (eap)
