Germany: New Indoor Surfing Attraction in Shopping Centre Now Open in Osnabrück

This past Saturday, the newly opened sports shopping centre L&T in Osnabrück, Germany inaugurated a new visitor attraction: a surfing facility located within the fashion house building. A staircase on the ground floor leads visitors to the artificial surfing attraction (supplied by Citywave), which is visible from the upper levels of the five-storey department store for shoppers.

An experienced surf instructor helps both beginners and advanced surfers during the 45-minute surfing lesson, ticket prices start at 34 Euros per adult. The minimum age is eight years. Depending on the level of experience, the wave reaches a height of up to 1.4 meters. While the surf lesson itself lasts 45 minutes, the total length of stay is about 1.5 hours. Surfboard, wet suit and helmet are provided by the organizer.

If required, the 15 x 7.5 meter-wave pool can be covered so that the area can be used for basketball, badminton, soccer and other sports. After closing time, the attraction can be booked for company and private events. A total of 35 million Euros was invested by the family-owned Lengermann & Trieschmann company into the overall project, including the construction of the new department store building. (eap)
