Germany: Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen Reveals Novelties for 2019 Season

Today, Germany’s Serengeti-Park in Hodenhagen/Lower Saxony has revealed new offers for visitors set to be launched this upcoming season, into which the animal and leisure park will start on March 30th. Highlights include a transportable indoor spinning coaster dubbed “Safari-Blitz” (Engl.: “Safari Lightning”), supplied by German Renoldi showmen enterprise. Until autumn this year (end of August), visitors will be able to enjoy the ride with a maximum speed of 80 km/h, acceleration of up to 2g and a number of special effects. A new offer for explorers will be the “Ice Age Safari”, offering a journey back in times and encounters with life-sized animal animatronics such as mammoths and a saber-toothed tiger.

An amount of approx. four million Euros has been invested into the construction of the new “Manyara Restaurant”, located centrally in the park next to “Lake Victoria”. The restaurant, which will serve both day trippers and overnight guests, has a capacity of up to 500 guests and features a spacious terrace and a conference room offering around 200 square meters of space. “The Manyara Restaurant is our largest financial project of the last 20 years. With the restaurant and its extensive offer we are taking another huge step towards optimizing our services […],” comments park owner and Managing Director Dr. Fabrizio Sepe.

In the “Jungle Safari” area of the park, visitors will be able to observe meerkats, a new species in the park living in a new 120 square meter-large enclosure. New additions to the existing visitor offer also include the “Petting Safari” (a 1.2 hectare large enclosure with alpacas, donkeys and goats) and the “Elite Safari” guided tour with feedings and insights “behind the scenes”.

In 2017, Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen welcomed 720,000 visitors (cf. our Park Report in EAP 2/19). (eap)
