(eap) The non-profit resort Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) in Kissimmee, Florida, has appointed former executive Caroline Schumacher as its new president and CEO. Schumacher, who currently serves as President and CEO of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, is set to return to GKTW this June to succeed Pamela Landwirth. Landwirth stepped down earlier this year after around three decades of leadership, passing on her responsibilities to interim CEO Jordan Lomas.

Schumacher brings extensive experience in the leadership and strategic growth of non-profit organisations. Over the course of her career, she held several leadership roles at GKTW, most recently as Vice President of Operations until 2019. Her appointment is intended to continue the vision and uphold the values of Give Kids The World late founder Henri Landwirth.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve the mission of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation and to work alongside these exceptional innovators of tomorrow, pioneering astronauts and the most inspiring leaders in science and space. I am deeply grateful to the ASF Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, staff, alumni and supporters. Stepping into the role at Give Kids The World feels like coming full circle – honoring Henri Landwirth’s vision in a new way, for a cause that has always been close to my heart,” said Schumacher in a statement.

Give Kids The World Village now enables more than 7,600 families with critically ill children each year to enjoy a free stay at the purpose-built theme park resort in Central Florida, which is designed to create moments of joy and hope. ■
