(eap) Around USD 125 million (approx. EUR 118 million) has been invested by Great Wolf Lodge Resorts shareholders Blackstone and Centerbridge Partners in the transformation of the Great Wolf Lodge facility in the Pocono Mountains (Pennsylvania). The result of the extensive modernization work includes the enlargement of the indoor water park by 40,000 square-foot (approx. 3,700 square-meters) with seven new slides. In addition, the resort now offers two new restaurants, a new outdoor pool area and new overnight accommodations.

“Our Pocono Mountain resort has long been one of our flagship resorts, and with this $125 million expansion and renovation project we have significantly elevated the resort experience, making a family getaway to Great Wolf Lodge better than ever,” shared John Murphy, CEO of Great Wolf Resorts. “We have completely reimagined this resort, bringing many of the amenities and experiences from our new resorts to the Pocono Mountains”.

The expansion of the indoor pool area includes the installation of a new children’s play area called the “Club Paw Pool”, as well as new slides such as the “Slidewinder” tube slide, the “Mountain Edge Raceway” mat racing slide, the “Wolf Trail” free-fall slide that sends swimmers through a 270-degree “loop” after a trap door start and 20-foot (approx. six meters) seemingly free fall, as well as the “Otter Run” family-friendly body slide.

In addition to new indoor bathing fun, a renovated lobby with several self-check-in kiosks as well as the new “Timbers Tables & Kitchen” and “Fireside” restaurants and “Outpost Bar & Grill” in the new outdoor pool area await resort visitors. Furthermore, thirty new “Woodland Villas” and 202 rooms in the new “Mountain Tower” have been added to the accommodation offering. This makes the resort the second largest resort of the group in the nation after Great Wolf Lodge Maryland, which opened this summer. ■
