(eap) After the Dutch company Momentum Leisure received the building permit for its fourth theme park in Poland in October of this year, the groundbreaking ceremony has now been celebrated in Gliwice. In the immediate vicinity of the Europa Centralna shopping center, a 67,000-square-metre area is to be developed, which is expected to include 10,000 square metres of indoor attractions and 10,000 square metres of outdoor areas upon opening.

In addition, visitors will enter the park through a regular outdoor entrance – a novelty compared to the Majaland locations previously designed with indoor access. It is also said to be the first Momentum Leisure park to be developed entirely in-house.

“This will be a completely new concept”, highlights Wouter Dekkers, CEO of Momentum Leisure. “We are still targeting families, but with a shift forward to an older age group. Thanks to the park’s excellent location and unique attractions, we expect to attract between 400,000 and 500,000 visitors annually from Poland and neighboring Czechia, a combined market of over 40 million residents. With this new investment we are present in all major regions in Poland and close the ‘diamond’. Our investments reflect not just our confidence in Poland’s economic potential, but also our belief in the power of shared family experiences.”

The current plans call for four IP zones at the opening. The park is supposed to be expanded in a second phase | Concept: Momentum Leisure.

The attraction mix in Gliwice is intended to cater to children aged three to twelve, while also enabling shared family experiences. The park will include two roller coasters from the German manufacturers Zierer and Gerstlauer, one of which will run partly outdoors. Regarding IPs, a “PAW Patrol®” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” are planned for the outdoor area and a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” as well as a “Smurfs” zone for the indoor area, developed in cooperation with the Leisure Expert Group. In total, more than 50 million euros will be invested in the project. The opening of the park is scheduled for July 2027. ■
