(eap) Germany’s Hannover Adventure Zoo (Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover) starts the summer season tomorrow and will be offering extended opening hours. With the start of the season, animal presentations will begin for the first time in the “ARTrium”, the presentation area in the new “Zoologicum”. Twice a day, under the motto “ZooLogical!”, visitors will be able to see birds of prey, coatis, armadillos and macaws. More animal species will be added here over the course of the season.

From May, visitors will also be able to discover the new “Amphibium” with digital and analog offers and marvel at Titicaca water frogs, mossy frogs and poison dart frogs, among others, while the important message for species conservation is to be conveyed. “We will provide information about these fascinating animals and contribute to their protection,” reports Zoo Managing Director Andreas M. Casdorff. “Especially with the breeding station for the endangered fire salamander, which is native to our region, we will actively participate in species conservation, keep and breed the animals and also release them into the wild in the long term.” The amphibian house was developed in collaboration with Frogs&Friends and the species conservation organization Citizen Conservation.

The red pandas will also soon be moving into the first newly designed animal enclosure as part of the expansion of the “Jungle Palace” and will be able to climb high up in the trees and refresh themselves at a waterfall in their new home. ■
