Hansa-Park Introduces New Family Ride “Einar's Fjord Cruise”

(eap) With “Einar's Fjord Cruise”, Hansa-Park in Sierksdorf has expanded its Land of the Vikings area with a new family-friendly attraction. The ride, a Kontiki L model manufactured by Zierer, continues the storyline centred around the fictional child characters “Einar” and “Elin”, who already play a central role in the neighbouring family coaster “Midgard Serpent”. At the heart of the new attraction is the adventurous young Viking Einar, who now invites guests of all ages to join him on a swinging journey through the Nordic fjords.

According to the park, the attraction stands out both technically and thematically due to several distinctive features. A completely new boat design named “FENYA” was developed specifically for this ride – featuring a newly designed dragon head on one side of the boat only. The opposite side, facing away from the boarding area, is fully closed. The ride’s track extends 19 metres in length, allowing the ship to swing up to nearly four metres high. Up to 24 passengers can board each ride cycle, with a minimum height requirement of just 90 centimetres. Two special children’s seats have been integrated into the inner rows of seats around the central mast of the boat.

Particular attention was paid to the ride’s theming and integration into its environment. Unlike conventional designs, the attraction is not placed on a raised platform but rather at ground level, set within a large water basin and surrounded by rock formations evoking the landscape of Scandinavian fjords. This layout required a complex foundation extending more than three metres deep in the centre to protect the ride from the surrounding water. At the same time, the lowered design provides a barrier-free access for guests. In the evening hours, atmospheric lighting embedded into the rocks enhances the overall visual impact of the attraction. ■
