Har Kupers Receives ASTM Cavanaugh Award 2025
(eap) Har Kupers, Corporate Executive Officer at Sansei Technologies Inc. and Chairman of Vekoma Rides and S&S, has been honored with the “William T. Cavanaugh Award” by ASTM International (headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA). The award was announced during ASTM’s Board meeting in April 2025, with the official presentation taking place today, October 17th, during the ASTM F24 meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. With the “Cavanaugh Memorial Award”, ASTM International commemorates William T. Cavanaugh, who led the organization from 1970 to 1985 and played a key role in establishing it as a global leader in the development of voluntary technical standards for a wide range of products, systems and services.
Har Kupers looks back on a career spanning more than 35 years in the amusement industry, which began with his work as an engineer and led him to Vekoma Rides, where he ultimately served as CEO for over 30 years. Among his notable achievements is the harmonization of acceleration testing requirements and limits between standards EN 13814, ASTM F2291, and ISO, which he helps maintain to this day.
In addition to his professional activities, Kupers has been actively involved on a voluntary basis for many years – including with the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) in the field of safety and standards harmonization, and with AIMS International, a non-profit organization dedicated to training and knowledge sharing in the areas of safety and standards development. ■
