(eap) The “Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit™” roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida, which opened in 2009, is now history. After 16 years, the steel roller coaster equipped with an onboard sound system by Maurer Söhne (now Maurer Rides) has been permanently closed to visitors. Among the highlights of the attraction were its 90-degree vertical lift, the non-inverted loop element and the option for passengers to select a song before the ride, which was then played through the headrests during the ride.

While the theme park resort has not yet announced any further details, it is clear that a new experience is to be created to replace the former attraction. ■
