(eap) The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has announced that the first IAAPA Expo Middle East will not take place as planned. The association’s trade show for the Middle East was originally scheduled to be held from March 30 to April 2 this year at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. Due to the Iran war, the event has now been postponed to April 12 to 15, 2027. The safety of IAAPA members, exhibitors and visitors is said to be the highest priority.
The decision was reportedly taken following extensive discussions with key stakeholders, including the IAAPA EMEA Regional Advisory Board, the IAAPA EMEA Manufacturers & Suppliers Committee, the board of the North Africa Leisure and Attractions Council (MENALAC), as well as exhibitors, speakers and local members. Only at the end of last month had IAAPA announced to join forces with MENALAC. The two organisations will work together to support their members in the region, especially in the current situation (see EAP news of 25 Feb 2026).
“This was not an easy decision,” said Jakob Wahl, President and CEO of IAAPA. “We recognize the time, investment, and commitment of our members and partners dedicated to what would have been the inaugural IAAPA Expo Middle East. We are grateful for their support and understanding as we prioritize the safety and best interests of our global community.”
IAAPA announced that it will enter in direct communications with exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and registered attendees regarding next steps. ■
