Ice-World Welcomes Wilbert Lek as New Managing Director

(eap) The Netherlands-based company Ice-World International, which specializes in the manufacture and installation of both temporary and permanent ice rinks, has appointed a new Managing Director, who took over the position on 5 January 2026: Wilbert Lek is succeeding Steven Bottema, who handed over the position after more than eleven years.

Under the leadership of Steven Bottema, Ice-World realized numerous installations worldwide, including temporary ice rinks in cities such as Riyadh, Mexico City, and Amsterdam. These projects comprised a wide range of applications, including ice rinks for world championships and NHL games, Cirque du Soleil tours, and major events such as the “Winter Wonderland” formats known from metropolises like London.

Wilbert Lek, who intends to build on this success, brings extensive international management experience in the event industry to his new position at Ice-World. Most recently, he served as CEO of Golazo Events Netherlands. Commenting on his appointment as Managing Director, Wilbert stated: “Ice-World has established a unique position as a reliable partner for ice projects. We work with real ice and support our clients from start to finish, from design and logistics through to fast assembly and dismantling, always with a strong focus on sustainability. Building on our solid foundation in Europe, I look forward to taking the next step in Ice-World’s international growth together with the team.” ■
