(eap) The comprehensive modernization and expansion of the indoor and outdoor swimming pool in Bochum-Linden, Germany is progressing. After the new natural outdoor pool with a total water area of more than 1,670 square meters had already gone into operation in summer 2025, construction work on the new indoor pool continues at full speed.

The public pool, operated by WasserWelten Bochum, is planned to include a 25-meter combined pool, a diving tower with 1-, 3- and 5-meter platforms, a course pool with a movable floor, a children’s pool as well as a spray park. A small sauna area is planned for relaxation, complemented by a sun terrace. In addition, the pool is intended to be designed as barrier-free and to have a separate entrance for schools and clubs. The project participants include, among others, Planteam Ruhr, DTF Ingenieure, Ingenieurbüro Grage and Hitzler Ingenieure. Completion is planned for spring 2026.

The already opened natural outdoor pool offers a 25-meter sports pool, which is separated from a multifunctional adventure pool by a wooden walkway. A beach as well as a children’s area with water channels and damming features complement the offering. Water treatment is carried out via natural filter systems, so that the outdoor pool can be operated without chemical additives such as chlorine. ■
