Japan: Disneyland Park Announces Mega Investment

The Japanese operating company Oriental Land Co., Ltd just announced that it will invest a major sum of 56 billion Japanese Yen (approx. 411million Euros) into the extensive renovation of the “Space Mountain“ indoor coaster and its surrounding area “Tomorrowland“ at Tokyo Disneyland® Park.

The ride, which opened in 1983, will be maintained in its original concept but will offer guests an enhanced performance and immersive special effects. For the construction works the attraction will close in 2024 and is scheduled to reopen to visitors of the Japanese Disney destination in 2027. The Tomorrowland Plaza will become a place for visitors to relax and will thematically be designed as a connection between the earth and the universe. In the evening hours, guests will be able to enjoy a light and soundscape show here.  (eap)
