Meow Wolf Names Matthew Henick CEO
(eap) The US-based company Meow Wolf, creator of immersive entertainment formats that combine art, storytelling and technology, has announced the appointment of Matthew Henick (photo) as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 27, 2026. He succeeds Interim CEO Rebecca Campbell, who will continue to serve on Meow Wolf’s board of directors. The decision comes at a strategically important time: the opening of the company’s largest exhibition to date is planned for this year in Los Angeles, while a New York City location is scheduled for late 2027.
Christopher Sobecki, Chair of the Board, stated: “Matthew brings a remarkable combination of media, technology, and immersive experience leadership at exactly the right moment for Meow Wolf. With the company expanding both its geographic footprint as well as its new media presence beyond the four-walls, the board is confident he is the right leader to build on Meow Wolf's artistic foundation while guiding its growth in a rapidly-evolving entertainment landscape.”
Henick has extensive experience at the intersection of technology, creative media and immersive storytelling. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Consumer Products at The Trade Desk, where he oversaw a range of projects, including the development of “Ventura TV OS” and “OpenPass”. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Deep Voodoo, a studio specializing in creative AI and visual effects founded by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Further positions include leading Metaverse development at Epic Games, with a focus on the digital world of “Fortnite”, as well as roles at Meta/Facebook and BuzzFeed.
“The first time I walked through a Meow Wolf exhibition, I felt wonder and connection – to the art, to the strangers around me, and the artists who create these miracle places,” said Henick. “My job is to make sure millions more people get to feel that, whether they walk through our portals or encounter Meow Wolf in entirely new ways.” ■
