Merlin Entertainments to Open First Attraction in India

As Merlin Entertainments recently announced, the company will open its first attraction in India in early 2017. It will be a Madame Tussauds wax museum located in India’s capital New Delhi. Furthermore, Merlin intends to introduce several more of its attractions brands, such as SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, in key cities across the populous Asian country. Within the next ten years, the company expects to invest up to 69 million euros (50 million pounds) in the opening of new attractions in India.

“We have long been considering the potential for the Group in India with its rapidly growing economy, and are very excited to have found the ideal site for our first venture in New Delhi. We already know how popular many of our brands are with the Indian community in other markets, particularly Madame Tussauds. Indeed the Bollywood figures in Madame Tussauds London are now some of the most popular in the attraction,” Merlin Chief Executive Nick Varney comments. (eap)
