Netherlands/Germany: EuroParcs Group Takes Over Camping Facility in Sauerland Region

Founded more than 40 years ago, the family-run EuroParcs Group took over the Biggesee-Waldenburg Campsite in the heart of Germany‘s Sauerland region this month from the previous owner 12.18. Unternehmensgruppe. The Dutch EuroParcs Group, which already operates more than 60 holiday parks in the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, has now also entered the German market.

The campsite, which is located in a bay on the northern shore of Lake Bigge and not far from the Hanseatic town of Attendorn, is to be extensively modernised. In close cooperation with the town, an innovative, family-friendly concept for the park is being developed. The future offer will combine unique nature experiences in the Rothaargebirge Nature Park with a high level of holiday comfort, and the existing staff of the camping facility will be taken over, according to the EuroParcs Group.

“Vacations in a holiday park have become much more attractive to many holidaymakers in recent years, including during the times of the Corona pandemic. More and more people are looking for relaxation in a beautiful location surrounded by nature – modern, comfortable and affordable. Germany is highly interesting and an obvious tourist market for us, because already today almost 20 percent of our guests come from Germany,“ explains Andries Bruil, CCO of the EuroParcs Group, and continues: “The location in Attendorn captivates with its unique location on the shore of Lake Bigge and perfectly expands our existing holiday park portfolio in Europe [...].“

With around 600,000 guests per year, the EuroParcs Group is one of Europe‘s leading holiday park operators in the premium segment. In addition to the development of holiday parks, the business model is based on the sale of homes to private investors as well as management and rental. (eap)
