New Attraction “Rotonda” Opens at Austria’s Familypark

Christian Schriefl, Deputy Mayor of St. Margarethen; Filip de Witte, Managing Director of Familypark; Harald Schermann, Director of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce; and Gerold Stagl, Mayor of the Free City of Rust, celebrated the opening of “Rotonda” together with around 60 invited guests (from left to right).

(eap) Familypark in Austria’s Burgenland region put its new attraction “Rotonda” into operation last Friday, while also officially inaugurating the new themed area dedicated to the world of winegrowing. The new ride is a Disk’O Coaster from Italian manufacturer Zamperla, which carries passengers on a rotating gondola along a wave-shaped track.

“With Rotonda, we are creating a ride experience that surprises and delights our guests while perfectly matching the character of Familypark. The elaborately designed winegrowing theme is also a clear commitment to the Lake Neusiedl region, which has always shaped Familypark,” emphasises Filip de Witte, Managing Director of Familypark. “This investment is another step in the modernisation and further development of our park as a unique leisure destination in Austria.”

At Easter, “Wilder Winzer”, a Crazy Bus – also from Zamperla – had already opened in the same themed area, aimed especially at younger visitors. Together, the two new attractions are intended to form a coherent new area that appeals to families with children of different ages. In total, operating company Compagnie des Alpes invested around 4.7 million euros in the new area and drew on the involvement of numerous local and Austrian companies.

Harald Schermann, Director of the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce, described the investment as an important signal: “With its regular investments, Familypark provides strong impetus for the entire region. It is particularly pleasing that numerous regional trades are involved in projects of this scale. This cooperation creates value, secures jobs and shows how closely tourism development and regional economic strength are connected.” ■
