(eap) Movie Park Germany is celebrating 30 years of park and film history this year. To mark the anniversary season, the film and theme park in Bottrop-Kirchhellen – which belongs to the Spanish Parques Reunidos group – has announced several highlights, including a new exclusive Paramount attraction. “We are very proud of what we have achieved in recent years. Movie Park Germany has been shaped by an eventful history. We have continuously developed the park with a clear vision, strong teamwork and passion, and have deliberately built on its film identity,” explains Manuel Prossotowicz, Director Marketing & Sales. “For the 30th anniversary, we would like to give something back to our guests and thank them with many small and large surprises.”
Starting in mid-May, guests will immerse themselves in “Journey to the Forbidden Chamber” and, in keeping with the park motto “Hollywood in Germany”, enter a fictional adventure story set around the world-famous Paramount Pictures film studios in Los Angeles. According to the storyline, visitors become extras in a major film production and step onto a movie studio set complete with props and show elements. The attraction – developed exclusively for the park in cooperation with Paramount – will be installed in the building that previously housed the indoor attraction “The Lost Temple”, which opened there in 2014 (see our cover story in EAP 4/2014). While the existing Immersive Tunnel ride system (by Simworx) will stay in place, guests will experience the adventure in 2D and not in 3D in the future.
For the redesign of the attraction, the park has brought several partners on board, including the Dutch company P&P Projects, which is responsible for theming and design. The new film for the attraction was produced exclusively in the well-known film studios in Los Angeles. Further details about the new attraction are expected to be announced soon. In addition, the park is planning a large anniversary parade with new floats, costumes, choreographies and a dedicated soundtrack, as well as a separate “Nickelodeon Street Show” featuring its own parade vehicle. The celebrations will culminate on 4 July 2026 with a major anniversary party lasting into the evening hours. ■
