(eap) Yesterday, the first guests at Wunderland Kalkar in North Rhine-Westphalia were able to set off on an exploratory tour of the new “Himalaya – Valley of Legends” themed area. The newly opened, covered experience world is aimed primarily at families with children and combines ride and climbing attractions with playful learning and discovery elements.

Children are invited to relive the individual stages of Annika’s journey to the Himalayan region themselves. These include the small “Lukla Airport” with a propeller plane, which is a swinging ship designed in the shape of an aircraft. The attraction can already be used by the youngest guests from the age of two and a height of 90 centimetres and offers space for a total of twelve passengers. In the “Mani-Gebetsmühle” (Mani Prayer Wheel) carousel, which surprises with rotating and swinging movements, can accommodate up to 13 people and is accessible from the age of four and a height of 120 cm. Both attractions were supplied by the Italian SBF-Visa Group.

Up to 300 visitors can climb and set off on a journey of discovery here at the same time. The facility, which is largely made of wood, was realized by the Dutch company Funcha!.

According to the amusement park, the Himalaya area is already the second independent themed area of the site after “Kernie’s Dorf”. With this, the park is continuing to implement its master plan to gradually develop its leisure park offering, which until now has mainly consisted of individual attractions, into a more strongly themed park with independent experience areas. Since 2022, Wunderland Kalkar has been operated by the Dutch DeFabrique Holding. Marten Foppen has been Managing Director since 2023 (see photo above). ■
