New Themed Area and Coaster Plans for Six Flags Great Adventure

Expected to open in late spring 2026, the new Shoreline Pier area at The Boardwalk channels the charm of New Jersey’s iconic oceanside amusement piers.

(eap) Extensive developments are currently underway at Six Flags Great Adventure: Visitors can look forward to the redesigned “Shoreline Pier at the Boardwalk” area scheduled to open soon. The area will comprise five attractions, refreshed F&B offerings as well as new theming, stylistically inspired by the classic seaside boardwalks of the US East Coast.

At the same time, construction work is progressing on a new roller coaster by Mack Rides, which is expected to open in 2027. The ride, announced as a record-breaking launch coaster, is already visibly taking shape – first sections of the distinctive purple track have recently been installed.

In the Shoreline Pier area, four new attractions as well as an already existing one at the park will be offered in the future. With “Barrels O’ Fun”, a Spinning Coaster by Reverchon will be integrated, relocated from the now closed Six Flags America to New Jersey and set to reopen with new theming. The portfolio will be complemented by “Flying Scooters”, a classic “Wave Swinger”, “Hypno Twister” as well as the traditional park carousel “Super Roundup”. The latter has been part of the park since 1974 and is set to return to operation in the new area following a comprehensive mechanical overhaul.

“Shoreline Pier celebrates everything people love about New Jersey’s legendary boardwalks – the motion, the magic, the tastes, the thrills and the timeless sense of adventure,” explains Michael Fehnel, Park Manager of Six Flags Great Adventure. “This new area blends the alluring vibe of shore towns with classic midway fun, creating a destination that feels both nostalgic and brand-new.” In addition to the rides, typical boardwalk offerings such as French fries, corn dogs and sweet snacks are planned, along with walking acts and live music.

Further announced additions for the 2026 season include, among others, the return of the “Safari Off Road Adventure”, which is now accessible from inside the theme park. In addition, new track sections have been installed on the wooden roller coaster “El Toro” (Intamin) to improve ride comfort. These measures are complemented by an optimized Wi-Fi infrastructure as well as modernized dining locations aimed at further enhancing the overall guest experience. ■
