New Water Slides at German Westbad Regensburg
(eap) After a year of construction, Germany’s Stadtwerk.Westbad in Regensburg (Bavaria) recently opened a new slide complex for its guests. Around four million euros were invested in the project, in which a total of 15 specialist companies were involved. The new installation includes two attractions supplied by the Baden-Württemberg-based water attractions specialist Aquarena: The 75-metre-long tube slide “West Slide”, featuring numerous curves and effects and considered a family-friendly offer; and the 95-metre-long speed tube slide “West Racer” with two parallel tubes and integrated time measurement, which invites visitors to race each other. Both slides are approved for children aged six and over.

“Modern leisure facilities are extremely important for a growing city such as Regensburg. Westbad is a place where the city comes together – whether for sports, relaxation or family outings. With the new slide complex, we are creating even more opportunities for fun and physical activity – for young and old alike,” explained Supervisory Board Chair of Stadtwerk.Regensburg and Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer. “By adding two new slides, we are expanding our adventure offering – and guaranteeing action and fun for the entire family,” added Commercial Director Mathis Broelmann. He continued: “For new-build projects, we consistently pursue the goal of meeting the highest possible energy standards. This was also taken into account with the new slide complex.”

Both slides are fully insulated and equipped with LED lighting. In addition, photovoltaic elements were installed on three sides of the slide tower and are expected to generate approximately 15,000 kWh of electricity per year. The investment measure forms part of the municipal utilities’ bathing strategy. As the next development step, the creation of a new indoor children’s and family area is planned. Construction is scheduled to start in autumn 2026. ■
