New at the German Spy Museum: “The Truth Chamber”
(eap) The German Spy Museum at Leipziger Platz in Berlin has expanded its offering with the new attraction “The Truth Chamber”. In collaboration with the specialists from the room laboratories, an interactive experience format centered around the myth of the “lie detector” has been created.

At the core of the installation are two test rooms that can be used in parallel, each equipped with a lie detector, where visitors can test whether their counterpart is telling the truth or telling a lie. Already in the waiting area, which is stylistically based on the FBI headquarters J. Edgar Hoover Building, background information on the history, functionality and use of the polygraph by intelligence services and investigative authorities is provided. A photo wall also offers the opportunity to capture one’s own “Moment of Truth”.
However, the actual challenge with one’s own pulse only begins upon entering the “Truth Chamber”: in both rooms, the heartbeat of the test person is picked up and becomes part of the staging. Dimmed lighting, dynamic projections and a specially composed soundscape react in real time to biometric changes. One of the two test rooms has also been designed to be accessible, allowing wheelchair users to fully participate in the experience. ■
