Open-Air Gondola Experience from Summer in Mayrhofen
(eap) As of this summer, a new highlight will complement the visitor offerings of “Mountopolis”, the adventure world operated by Mayrhofner Bergbahnen in the Austrian Zillertal: With the commissioning of the new “SkyRide Ahorn”, guests will have the opportunity to experience an open-air gondola ride on the Ahornbahn aerial ropeway up to the mountain plateau.
With the SkyRide Ahorn, the existing leisure offering centred around mountain mascot “AlbertAdler” (Engl.: “Albert, the eagle”) is being expanded – a ride in the open-air cabin, which is being installed by Austrian cable car specialist Doppelmayr, is designed to simulate a gentle gliding flight of the majestic bird of prey. Guests can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Zillertal Alps with their three-thousand-metre peaks, which provide a spectacular backdrop for souvenir photos (keyword: Instagrammability). Up to 30 people per ride will be able to use the SkyRide Ahorn, which will be offered for an additional charge on top of the regular gondola fares.
In addition to the upcoming panoramic gondola ride, the Mountopolis adventure world also includes an indoor play area developed in collaboration with Ravensburger and a bird of prey station featuring an open-air stage for flight demonstrations. A detailed overview of current family attraction concepts in Alpine leisure destinations can be found in the “Summer in the Mountains” special, published in EAP issue 4/2023. ■
