(eap) With the introduction of its own overnight accommodation, UK-based Paultons Park aims to establish itself as a multi-day destination. The plans include Scandinavian-inspired lodging units. The concept for the resort, which is to be built on the park grounds adjacent to the New Forest National Park, was developed by UK-based planning firm Gillespies.

The resort is set to offer a variety of accommodation types, including treehouses, underground “hobbit houses”, A-frame cabins and woodland lodges, all arranged around a central village street and designed to host up to 700 guests. A central amenities hub featuring restaurants, entertainment options, shops, play areas and conference rooms is also planned to complement the existing theme park infrastructure.

According to Gillespies, the approximately four-hectare site has been planned with consideration for the ecological richness of the neighbouring national park. The landscape concept includes a meadows, woodland glades, a central lake, as well as extensive planting of native vegetation to enhance biodiversity and reflect the surrounding ecology.

The masterplan for the resort was developed in collaboration with the Mancey family who is owning and operating the park, and an interdisciplinary team of experts, including Laister Planning Ltd., i-Transport and environmental consultancy Ecosupport Ltd. In March 2025, the project was submitted for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening and as a pre-application to the New Forest National Park Authority.

With over one million visitors per year, the planned resort marks an important step in the long-term development of Paultons Park and is intended to attract new audiences. ■
